I purchased this despite the other evaluations given that I liked that I could mount my 9" Sony that has a swivel screen like a flat screen. This saves me space more than the laptop like circumstances. With my portable DVD player Every BUTTON IS ACCESSIBLE so it is super user-friendly. I was a tiny concerned altering the DVD would be a pain simply because you have to take the DVD player out of the mount to get the DVD out but when I attempted it it took me possibly a minute to get out and place back in as soon as I figured it out.
Also, I am installation challenged and I got this assembled in just a few minutes! That has never occurred just before. It fits my Honda EX Odyssey perfectly.
I've only test driven it around the block but sound was superior and from what I could observe from the driver's seat shaking was minimal. I figure it is for the kid's anyway so a perfectly still image is not all that necessary to me.
Finally, the only unfavorable comment I have is that my van does not have an auxiliary input so I can not use the included cable to hook sound up to the van's speakers. This was a massive plus when I bought this, but it is not the mounts fault that my van does not have this feature! Just an FYI, if that is essential to you check your car's user manual initially.
All that to say I am glad I ignored all the negative critiques and tried it. I'm genuinely happy with this design and possibly would pay much more than $15 if I had to.

No matter which way you orient it, the (not adjustable) clamps cover/push some of the manage buttons. If you place it in lengthwise, you can push "Volume" down equally, and set it by way of the remote. Barely.
The mounting technique is marginally acceptable, but initial setup is tough, it works by a lock camming more than, so you have to arrange both and engage the locks for it to stay. There is no lock for the vise with the media player, so it will often come loose - or when you try and put it on later, will knock the locks off.
Just after that is set up, it's apt to fall of if adjusted, but so far, no concerns once you finagle the media player in, manage not to hit any of the buttons, and then proceed - after that it is been acceptable.
Due to the fact it is "universal", you'll want to be positive that the device has no buttons on the side where the clamps go, or device a shim to clamp it where the buttons aren't.
