Client Critiques

I picked up a set of gray units from OnFair and did a swift installation myself in an Odyssey. Regrettably I have the dark gray interior and these units are light gray. They are not that noticeable but I went into this being aware of they would not be a perfect match. Running the cables by way of the seat back are quite simple and easy in this automobile, but power can be a pain if you're not comfy with locating and tapping off of an accessory supply.
My initial issue was that the head rest posts are incredibly narrow so you have to use some supplied sleeves that make the posts a bit fatter and take up alot more space inside the head rest holes within the seat. The dilemma was that even with the sleeves installed I could not raise the head rest and get it to latch into place. Meaning, if you raise the head rest it does not stay. This is not a biggie for me as I in no way use or raise it anyhow but for those who do, you are going to lose this functionality result in the little mechanism that's supposed to come into contact with the head rest post does not reach the post due to its slim style.
The designers thought of just about almost everything in terms of functionality in that audio for either A or B channel for separation with head sets operates well and the FM transmitter works mostly quite great so that you can hear it in the car's stereo. Yet, I discovered that somebody cannot be listening on one particular head rest with head phones while the other transmits lead to we'd get some interference in the head phones. Also, you require to make confident that each head rests are NOT transmitting on the exact same channel even if the exact same movie is becoming shown on both lead to you are going to get interference as well. The ability to watch diverse movies on each unit or watch the similar movie on both is quite cool and worth operating the cables for, but use only one particular for an audio source or make certain you are utilizing unique channels for every unit.
The units have a restricted field of broadcast so if you're too far to 1 side or if you happen to be in the back seat with the units on front seats...you will most most likely incur audio interference. Also, as the seat backs are tilted you are going to see the screen appear dim as the viewing angle seems to be limited. Fortunately I am a lot more upright by my wife's seat was tilted a bit a lot more than mine and I noticed a single of our youngsters stooping down to get a much better viewing angle.
As someone else mentioned, it's knowledge overload with all of the buttons. My 8 yr old has them down though in terms of rapidly setting them, but this is a hassle cause you have to set the channel to broad cast on as well as allow the input of the 2nd unit if you're watching the initially unit's output each and every time you turn the auto on. There are a lot of capabilities but I guess it's better than getting to navigate an onscreen menu. Speaking of navigating, the remotes are pretty little and thin. But they as well contain way also quite a few buttons. It tends to make usage and navigation in the dark impossible for each the head rest buttons and remote controller.
I also opted for a 3rd set of head phones. Beware that the further head sets are not the very same was what comes with the head rests and do not fit more than the ears like the ones packaged with the head rests. They also have limited adjustments so do not fit nicely on small heads. Thankfully I located that not all 3 kids were wanting to wear them so this became a non issue, which suggests I probably didn't will need them...but nevertheless a disappointment.
Lastly, shipping was fairly slow as the units had been on back order. We wanted them for an upcoming trip and I received them two days ahead of departure, which was more than three weeks from when ordered.
Now, sufficient of the bashing and on to the really good stuff. I feel the units are fairly well produced and the screen/hinge mechanism feels solid. I did not see any dead pixels (but) and the color is bright and vivid. I picked up the game pack and tried a couple of. I assume the inclusion of it is pretty kewl and the games are low cost entertainment (although the controllers feel pretty lightweight). They did a nice job with offering the needed cabling and installation is quite straight forward. The packaged head phones that come with the head rests are comfy and fit small heads nicely (skip the extra ones). The range of features is incredible in terms of how you can watch movies and distribute audio. Speaking of audio, the built-in speakers inside the head rests are of moderate excellent, but it does present one other option. I have but to attempt, but you also have other types of input such as for USB and SD which once again supplies additional flexibility. Lastly, for the price, I think the function set out weighs all of the unfavorable items I noted and makes these units a steal. If I had paid a lot a great deal more then the above noted places of concern would grow to be certainly big troubles and this would be a 2 star rating. But when factoring in the expense this certainly a spectacular buy.

Right after reading so many mixed reviews, I decided to take a chance and try them out for myself. I have to admit, the 1 page (if you'd like to call it that) of "installation" instructions was rather humorous. I agree with other people on that portion.
The hardest portion was locating the wiring diagram for my Equinox. We finally decided to tap into the accessory powerlet in the middle console. Once we did that, the rest of the installation was a breeze.
The sound high quality from the speakers are honestly great and getting wireless headsets is definately a bonus. The greatest part is having two DVD players. Now on our extended trips we won't hear any arguing over which movie to watch. They each and every have their own. Ahh the peace and quiet we will have now.
I am but amazed at the complaints about the seller being non responsive on the units. The units are clearly marked that you have a 1 year warranty with an address and instructions on what to do if it breaks. I am not confident why you would attempt to send it to the seller, that's like buying a Pansonic Tv from Preferred Get and six months down the line you have complications with it and complaining to Most beneficial Invest in... Why? You get in touch with the manufacturer or their authorized repair center for that product.
I did get a SquareTrade Warranty on the device, so it's good to know that it's protected for 3 years with accidental insurance on it. I would suggest it since it is the children that will be employing it and they can be a tiny rough with factors at occasions.
I would have to say, compared to my Insignia Dual Headrest monitors (that just strapped to the back of the headrests and had been $199.99) that this was a substantially greater deal and well worth the dollars and time spent.
